She connected with my mom rather quickly through extraordinary caring and healing talk, she addressed her with great respect even though my mom did not speak English.
I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to nurse Nargess who was my mom’s RN on 14th Floor when my mom was admitted with pancreatic cancer at NYU Tisch. Nargess came to my mom and connected with my mom wholeheartedly providing her with holistic care in her PO meds, drawing blood work and even feeding her a small spoon of food with meds. Nargess did a very thorough assessment and picked up swelling in her legs and coordinated her care with doctors and PCTS to provide mom comfort. Nargess empowered my mom by giving her simple choices about her care, treatment, PO meds, etc.
Nargess demonstrated unique therapeutic communication skills such as an introduction to mom by assuring her that she is here for any need and made my mom at ease. She connected with my mom rather quickly through extraordinary caring and healing talk, she addressed her with great respect even though my mom did not speak English. One of the greatest strengths that I noticed in Nargess' care is that she excelled in doing some lab work, drawing blood, and dealing with fragile patients like my mom. Nargess made random rounds on my mom’s condition to care for her and to address her needs in the most nurturing and caring manner.
Wholeheartedly, I believe that Nargess deserves this award due to her nurturing and caring behavior toward my mom demonstrating patient-centered care and holistic care towards my mom who is terminally ill with pancreatic cancer. I wish Nargess the best of luck in her future endeavors and in her nursing career.
