Nasira wasn’t just professional, she was compassionate, attentive, and genuinely human.
After being treated at several hospitals and going through multiple procedures, I was eventually admitted to 2 North. By that time, I was emotionally drained, deeply depressed, and had lost hope in my recovery. Being so young and having experienced the trauma of being shot, everything felt overwhelming.
During my stay, I had the privilege of meeting Nurse Nasira one night on the unit. Even though our time together was brief, it made a lasting impact. Nasira wasn’t just professional, she was compassionate, attentive, and genuinely human. She took the time to talk with me, not just about my care, but about life things to look forward to, small moments of hope. That conversation helped shift something in me. It reminded me that recovery wasn’t just physical, but also mental and emotional.
Her presence helped me feel seen during a time when I felt invisible. I’ll always be grateful for the care, kindness, and motivation she gave me when I needed it most.
