What I will never forget is Nastassia's gentle touch when she took my hand in hers.
I presented to the ER with a kidney stone and had bilateral ureteral stents placed for bilateral obstructing stones. I then stayed overnight to receive IV medications. I was overwhelmed with post-procedural pain. My husband was going out of town, and I was struggling with my new and unexpected medical problems. Enter Nastassia. She found me in tears. She explained that I should have put my light on so she could help me. I told her I didn't want to bother her. She pulled up a chair. What I will never forget is her gentle touch when she took my hand in hers. She told me I was equally important to her other patients and that I deserved her attention. She convinced me it wasn't a sign of weakness to use a bedside commode and brought one to my room. It was a game changer in terms of my comfort throughout the night.

She asked about my life and told me a bit about hers, too. She calmed my pain with new medications and my spirit with her kindness and gentle touch. And when I told her I was a Christian, she prayed with me. I actually missed her when I left. I had my procedure, and I am still living with bilateral stents and kidney stones. I have had more procedures and another hospitalization since this date, and I have two more procedures scheduled. Every time I am at Fisher-Titus I have amazing care from amazing people. Every time I think about how this all began, I immediately think of Nastassia and wonder if she was even real or if maybe God sent me an Angel that night. I will always remember how she made me feel. Always.
