March 2020 Honoree
natalia oconnor, RN
I was in the hospital for six days. Although all of the nursing staff was impressive, attentive, and competent, I feel that Natalia was so impressive from the minute I met her. I believe she was my nurse 3 times during my stay.
I found her to be calming, prompt, sweet, compassionate and had just the right amount of patient/nurse relationship to make me feel comfortable. I worked as a teacher for 37 years and know that dealing with the public is a difficult job. She has the perfect temperament in each situation, gets the job done with a smile and with heart. I asked about her accent, and she quickly explained that she speaks 4 languages. What a gift she is to Mercy Hospital!
Natalia made sure she always did what she said she was going to do, i.e: "be back in 30 minutes with your meds," or "will bring you a warm blanket." I questioned her generous ways and asked her if she thought it was partly her culture.
I think Natalia has a strong work ethic, seems extremely dedicated to her patients, and has the perfect personality and demeanor for being a nurse. I believe that she is an asset to behold! I will truly miss her beautiful accent, her pleasant attitude, and wish her well in the years to come.
