I was in a dark place when I arrived. I was easily overwhelmed and confused, especially at night. There were times that I had trouble remembering who or where I was. Natalie was not only sensitive and respectful during these trying times, but she also seemed intentional to check-in on additional means of comfort she could offer - often remembering and suggesting things that were previously helpful (an extra blanket to hug, a specific snack, etc.). Natalie checked in often and did not seem to scurry out. At times that I felt more lucid and present, she was delighted to engage in casual conversation, picking up on my various hobbies and interests. When the darkness would return, Natalie saw to it that I knew I was safe, that I was as comfortable as possible, and that she and everyone else, was rooting for me.
