hat is exactly what Natalie has done, treated me and my daughter with love and respect.

My daughter and I have been in this hospital for a long time now. I have met a lot of doctors, nurses, caregivers, etc. and just by the attitude they have, I can tell who loves working here and who looks at it as just a job. I am nominating my nurse Natalie because in the time I have been in this unit knowing her, I have come to realize that she loves being a nurse. Having a disability I can’t really stand too much. Natalie understood that and helps me take care of my daughter. She helped me by changing my daughter's trach ties when I was in a lot of pain. I have been going through a lot emotionally, from missing my other daughters to the pain in my legs. She came into my daughter's hospital room one day and asked me “How was our day, do you need anything?” I told said no. She left and came back with a trick-or-treat bag full of candy. That made me very happy… that bag of candy brought a little sunshine into what I thought was one of many dark and toughest days since being here in this hospital. I remembered the first time she gave me a warm blanket. It made me feel better, that warm blanket warmed me up and helped me with my pain. I love her personality and how she talked to my daughter.

I felt safe talking about my other daughters with her. Talking to her was relaxing and de-stressing. I realized from talking about my kids with someone that I can't be sad in times like this. I have to continue to focus on being a good mom. Natalie has shown me that not all nurses are alike. She is very kind, loving, helpful, understanding, and a genuine person. Being here in this hospital, I have come to realize that it's not how the staff treats the patient, but how they treat the family that makes you remember the name to match the face. That is exactly what she has done, treated me and my daughter with love and respect. If I don't get to see her again, please tell her thank you for me and my daughter.
