Natalie went above and beyond her call of duty. She introduced herself right away to me with a friendly smile and looked to my needs right away if she saw I was in pain. She went and then called the nursing support partner, and they both began to work together to make me feel comfortable. When it was time for me to walk, Natalie cheered me on as I felt like giving up. It was her motivation that allowed me to walk 25 more steps. Every time I hit the call button, she was there. I am grateful for Natalie, especially after the previous night. She gave me her time and didn’t rush me when I was talking to her. It was amazing to see them all working together as a family. I truly believe that if Natalie hadn’t been my nurse yesterday and today, I would’ve just given up and stayed in bed and not wanted to do anything and sulk in my misery. She is a great asset to MacNeal Hospital. I wish there could be more nurses like Natalie. I think the patient’s hospital stays will be so much better if they had a training class and she were to teach, I understand that everybody is not a people person, but the nursing line of work you have to be. It brought me many smiles every time she came in because I knew that she would have something positive to say and get my mind off the situation I was in right now.
