the care Natalie has provided has impacted countless more lives
Since the beginning of the pandemic and the subsequent surges that we saw in our COVID population, Natalie Crawford has become a voice for patients, families, and hospital staff who have been impacted by the virus. Natalie stated around Thanksgiving:

"Thankful for a career that allows me to see the truth first hand with my own eyes and allows me to be a part of something bigger than myself. Its tested me and allowed God to use me in ways unimaginable before this year. Although I don't have answers and I close so many eyes, I am humbled and appreciate this fragile life I have, now more than ever...My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families dealing with loss today. If lost in the fight of COVID, I'm sorry we couldn't do more."

Natalie stepped way out of her comfort zone and spoke at the St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force. Natalie shared the stories of two patients that she cared for who died from COVID. She shared their stories to educate the public, to respect the lives that were lost, to acknowledge the battle they fought, and to honor the families who will forever deal with their loss.
Natalie has worked 158 shifts since March of last year. On average, she was assigned two patients per shift. That comes out to over 300 patients that she has provided care to during the pandemic. I can promise you that the care Natalie has provided has impacted countless more lives. Every one of those patients has a family, friends, and a community. To the patients who survived, Natalie's care is remembered as compassionate and caring. The families of the patients who passed have reached out to thank her for being there to hold a hand, for saying a prayer, for facilitating that final conversation, and for ensuring that their loved one was not alone.
Thank you Natalie, for speaking up for your patients, for their families, and for your profession! We are all so incredibly proud and blessed to work alongside such an incredible example of how to live out our mission every single day.
