I would like to nominate Natalie for not only the extraordinary care she provides everyday and to every patient but for a particular situation. Natalie truly went above and beyond to care for a postpartum c-section who was having complications after delivery. This patient, after delivery, started to show signs and symptoms of an ileus. Natalie quickly took action to address the patient’s symptoms and find out what was going on. Natalie not only collaborated with the OB but also advocated to get a hospitalist on board and collaborated with them. Natalie collaborated with surgery, lab, imaging, her charge nurse, and her colleagues. Natalie took the opportunity to also share her knowledge and experience with a nurse extern and a nursing student.

Natalie cared for this patient for two days and truly provided the best care. The patient and her spouse expressed the utmost gratitude for Natalie’s care, advocacy, kindness, and compassion. They stated that Natalie was put on this earth to care for people and does such a wonderful job. They continued to say that even though she was having complications, they would not be more happy with Natalie and the care she provided. They stated that we need more nurses like Natalie and how lucky we are to have her work at our facility. I could not agree more. Natalie exemplifies and embodies what the DAISY Award stands for.
