We had a patient in the unit multiple times with extended stays. Patient died. Natalie had cared for this patient many times but she also cared for his wife, they had been married 57 years and this was very difficult for her, but Natalie showed her such compassion and care. I ran into this patient's wife at a restaurant recently and she told me how much she appreciated the Kaiser care especially Natalie. Natalie took the time to go to his funeral service and then most recently took this woman to lunch with her 2 young sons. This woman stated "it was the best 2 1/2 hours I've had since my husband's death and those 2 little boys are so cute and so good".

Just last night we admitted another "regular" patient and as soon as the family saw Natalie, they immediately were relieved. Natalie was not their RN, but she went right over, hugged them and assured them we would take excellent care of the patient as we always do.

Natalie is a outstanding RN with wonderful compassion for her patients and families.
