I came in while having contractions to see if I was in active labor. While Natalie Sandman was checking my cervix, my water broke. At some point, the baby went from head down to breech. Natalie stated she was feeling for the baby’s head but instead felt a foot and umbilical cord coming out of the cervix. Natalie remained calm and professional while paging for help. Over the next hour, nurses and doctors flooded the space around me. Natalie was still at the foot of the bed, with her hand physically keeping the baby and/or placenta from coming out. I was rushed to surgery for an emergency C-section. All the while, Natalie was still right there, asking what she could do to help and reassuring me that we were doing great and everything would be ok. Very quickly, the entire delivery team collaboratively got my baby out safely. If it hadn’t been for Natalie and her knowledge, experience, calm demeanor, professional affect, and dedication to her work, my daughter and I wouldn’t be here today, and that’s a fact.

Thank you, Natalie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
