Natalie Williamson, Staff Nurse-Colleague, Transplant Inpatient Unit, Children’s at Egleston

Natalie Williamson has been an invaluable member of the TRIP team since 2005. She is a dedicated preceptor, charge nurse and resource to the 6E staff. She touches the lives of patients and families every day with her excellent clinical skills and nurturing demeanor. However, she also advocates for her patients, which exemplifies her strength and her commitment to Children’s patients.
Natalie once received a patient that returned to the unit after a procedure. She immediately felt that something was not quite right with her patient. She asked another nurse to evaluate her patient and then called the resident and attending physician. They gave her initial orders, but the patient did not improve to her satisfaction. Natalie continued to keep the doctors informed about the patient’s status and eventually called Rapid Response. Rapid Response assessed the patient and determined that he needed to be transferred to the PICU, where he was stabilized and received care he needed. Natalie's steadfast adherence to advocating for her patient ensured that he received the best possible care.
This is just one example of how Natalie puts her patients first and remains devoted to their well-being.
