December 2015 Honoree
natalja leonard 2, RN, ADN
My father-in-law came in with a GI bleed that turned into a bowel obstruction. He was a patient on Unit 52 for a week. He received great care from all of the staff; however, even though she was only his nurse for one shift, the care and compassion Natalja showed him was exemplary. Natalja was the nurse who had to place an NG tube and provide education not only on the tube, but on the potential for surgery. She was patient as she explained the procedure to him and my mother-in-law and answered many questions. She was reassuring and she never appeared to be rushed or preoccupied. As a Good Samaritan Hospital employee, I knew that she was carrying a full patient load on a busy day. She handled any requests that came her way.
Note: This is Natalja's second DAISY Award!
