Natasha went above and beyond to help a patient and his son. The patient was a Korean War Army Veteran. The son has taken care of his dad for the last 6 years and due to unfortunate circumstances have been recently homeless. The patient became critically ill and placed on life support and the doctors gave no hope for his recovery. The plan was to remove life support and allow the patient to pass away peacefully. The son was stressed out because he had no financial resources to bury his dad. On her days off, Natasha went to a local organization "Coffee with Vets" and on 3 different days talked with them and the Vets donated $2200 from their own pockets! She contacted the local VFW Chaplin and with his guidance contacted all the local mortuaries and got a discount of $1800 for a Veteran burial. The average price was $3500. Cremation is more affordable but the patient's religion required a burial. She called our local Representative to replace the patient's purple heart and flag awards he had lost years ago and the office is currently working on that for his son. Natasha paid for the patient's death certificate out of her own pocket and has remained in contact with the son at the local homeless shelter. She has worked tirelessly to help the son with advice and resources to get on his feet again. She went back to "Coffee with Vets" to give them the money left over from the burial cost and they donated that money to the patient's son! She arranged for the patient to be buried at Riverside National Cemetery for Veterans and transported the son to the memorial alongside her dad and members of the local VFW. Natasha helped a patient at the end of his life die with dignity and have the respect he deserves for what he did for our country. Her compassion was outstanding and we are proud to work alongside her at Palmdale Regional Medical Center!
