It is my pleasure to nominate my colleague Natasha for a DAISY Award. One day, our unit admitted a critically ill baby. The parents had a chaplain at the bedside and asked if one of the nurses could step in to serve as the child's Godmother. I was a witness to Natasha graciously accepting the honor to be the child's Godmother. What left me in awe was how Natasha was so moved and overwhelmed with emotion. The staffing on our unit that day allowed for a handful of nurses to go home. My feeling was that Natasha was meant to be there. She was meant to be this baby's Godmother and loving support for this family in need. Natasha showed compassion, shared her faith on a deeply moving level, and through this, she has earned the opportunity for recognition.
