Natasha tried numerous routes to get her home but nothing worked out. She personally called a cab for the patient and paid for it herself.
I feel that Natasha should be nominated for a DAISY Award as she is an incredibly hard working charge nurse here in our department and daily goes above and beyond for her team and the clients we care for. I know personally of an instance in which she discharged a patient who was elderly and didn't have a ride home. Natasha tried numerous routes to get her home but nothing worked out. She personally called a cab for the patient and paid for it herself.
She also shows amazing strength to be calm during very tense situations. She is extremely calm with violent patients and has a knack for talking them down without having to medicate or restrain them.
She has a way of keeping her team moving and laughing at the same time and that is not easy when everyone is going different ways at all different speeds.
If my family or I needed care and this nurse cared for them, I know they would be in the care of an exceptional nurse. Her knowledge and skill set are vast when it comes to our specialty. She keeps a calm and level head when critical or unexpected events occur. She shares this knowledge with others, helping to build the team to its strongest potential. She serves as a mentor for many of the staff.
I have witnessed her de-escalating potentially dangerous situations by using her magic skills to calm patients or families down. She sits and talks with patients when they have no one, especially our psychiatric population. She again uses that magic to find placement for them in behavioral health centers.
Natasha consistently picks up shifts, even those outside of her normal hours or on her vacation time, when the department needs help. She will come in early or stay behind to ensure the department has a charge nurse to support the team. Her strong work ethic and commitment to her nursing craft are evident in every shift she works, and she is a true DAISY Nurse.
