August 2026 Honoree
Natasha Worthy, ADN
We were having a very difficult time discharging a patient who was confused and unable to make decisions for herself. The patient is rigidly established with her own family culture and beliefs, making it even more challenging to convince her that she now cannot return to her son's house anymore and needs to live in a facility.
Natasha went above and beyond, helping and assisting not only with her teammates but also the patient. She was amazing to quickly establish trust with patient but patiently listen and response to patient's priorities and concerns.
Regardless of being a charge nurse and having a busy day that day, she was able to help the patient understand what is best for her and even her family. The team was getting to the point where we might have to have an MD order for some medication to help with the agitation so the patient could be transferred out via an ambulance.
Thanks to Natasha's persistence and dedication, the patient was cooperative and willing to leave the facility via a wheelchair van.
I appreciate Natasha so much, not only for helping me with discharging a LOS patient but also for helping me realize that "We never know, things we do for our patients every day, even just a tiny little thing, can create great impact on their life, if we truly care."
