Nathan Ellison is a highly engaged, present individual. He approaches nursing with a sense of intentionality that is reflected in his ability to prioritize, anticipate and support. He doesn't wait to be asked for help, he volunteers. He is never critical of other's dilemmas and always looks for ways to support a good outcome.
Nathan has a sensitivity to the needs of patient and families. He can address their care to ensure orders are completed but he also addresses the softer needs. "Did the patient get the right diet & were their preferences ensured? Did the families' questions get answered, what else can I do to help you get better?"
Recently, we had a big hospital project to complete. The focus was on ensuring safe patient care and the need was immediate. In the face of a high census and reduced resources, Nathan volunteered to help. He was efficient, personable and engaging. Because of his actions, we completed this equipment change over in two days instead of three. He preserved resources, ensured safety and supported the team.
This is a second career for Nathan. His passion is to serve others. He is respectful, confident and compassionate. His desire to help and do the right thing shows daily in his care.
