...We had a patient with a UTI, Nurse Nayrovis Gonzalez was on duty as the PCS and also was taking care of this patient. Nayrovis' excellent critical thinking skills and excellent assessment let her know something was wrong. The patient's leg was swollen and discolored. Nayrovis thought quickly and called the Dr. and ordered a STAT Doppler. The patient had a total occlusion of the leg and a little while later we had to call a code. This patient was intubated and sent to the unit with a poor prognosis. Nayrovis saved this lady's life. She acted fast, followed through and with our excellent staff on this floor and ICU along with the Dr, the patient walked out of the hospital 3 weeks later.
