Not only was their medical expertise and commitment to their work impressive, but their sincere care for everyone's wellbeing was touching.
We are writing to express our sincere gratitude and immense thanks for the care that our adopted son and his birthmother received in the Labor and Delivery department of NEA Baptist. We feel it important for you to know that the nursing team, led by Sara Lambert, almost certainly saved the lives of our son and his birth mother as the result of Sara's quick thinking, all the while showing us the highest standard of professionalism and kindness throughout our ordeal.

In the morning, we received a desperate message from our son's birthmother complaining of immense pain only a day before her scheduled C-section. We went to her home in order to transport her to the hospital but upon arrival immediately realized the urgent nature of the situation and called for an ambulance to have her brought to NEA Baptist. Less than an hour after our son's birthmother arrived to the ER and was transferred to Labor and Delivery, Sara recognized signs that the baby (and indeed, the mother) was in severe, life-threatening distress and that it was critical to immediately operate.

Sara called for the doctor on duty who quickly performed an emergency C-section. Our son's birth mother later relayed to us that her uterus had ruptured, and she had lost a significant amount of blood, with both her and our son likely being only minutes away from death. While we anxiously waited, Sara and the other nurses kept us appropriately informed while staying remarkably calm and showed us an incredible amount of warmth and reassurance.

These exemplary and - in our view - heroic efforts were followed by a superior level of care and support for our son, his birth mother, and us as we dealt with the anxiety and trauma of that afternoon and our son's birthmother recuperated from her emergency surgery. Not only was their medical expertise and commitment to their work impressive, but their sincere care for everyone's wellbeing was touching. Simply put, Sara and her knowledgeable staff were wonderful not only because of their attentiveness, but also their amazing empathy.

In our view, Sara's even-keeled leadership and the strong team supporting her demonstrate a quality of care to which all hospitals in this country should aspire. While our time at NEA Baptist could have easily ended with heartbreak and pain, it was instead by far the most impressive and positive experience we could have imagined given the circumstances due to the superior care that your nursing team provided. They are an asset to your hospital, and we will forever be grateful to them.
