Having worked with Neal for over four years and knowing well the quality of care and compassion he shows to all his patients in IR, it was no surprise when I received a recent email from the family of one patient noting Neal's dedication to this patient. Truly an exceptional nurse, Neal spends extra time providing patient teaching in a calm, yet confident manner and always with a healthy dose of humor.Being both knowledgeable and a dynamic personality, Neal emulates the mission of UNMH to provide exceptional care during every encounter by engaging his patients to become active participants in their care.
Neal was the nurse during two recent visits to our department for one patient and the family felt compelled to write the following note in appreciation of his efforts: "Neal showed my husband the ultimate respect and kindness while he was there." Neal, as part of the IR team, "updated us every step of the way and they made us feel like 'part of the family.'" I often observe Neal sitting down with his patients and spending quality time answering all their concerns.Neal truly makes a profound positive effect on his patients with his kindness and is a true testament to what IR nursing is all about.Not only are his patients grateful for his outstanding care, his colleagues routinely recognize him for in ICARE awards for being the consummate team player!
