We came in on a Sunday evening to be induced and after nearly 24 hours, we had made very little progress. Nellie came on shift at 7pm and brought with her an incredibly positive attitude and kind, nurturing nature. She encouraged me every step of the way and helped me to fully understand what was happening so that I could make informed, educated, and empowered decisions about my body and care. Nellie was with us all night, through some of the lowest moments of my life. She supported me and my husband emotionally (and physically!) while I pushed for several hours with no progress. She advocated for my pain control needs, even grabbing a massage tool from her own pumping bag to help me be more comfortable. When it came time to make the tough choice to change plans and deliver via c-section, Nellie talked us through the process and helped us ensure we were making the right choice for our family. She could sense my extreme anxiety about the procedure and went above and beyond by staying to see us through it. She was with us every step of the way! She held me while I got a spinal block, talked me through all the things going on to prep, and held my hand while we waited to start. She stood by us through the delivery, and even used my husband’s phone to capture incredible moments that we wouldn’t have otherwise! After our sweet boy made his arrival, she even came to check on us on the postpartum floor. Everyone who was a part of our journey was awesome, but Nellie brings so much heart with her and has helped us through some of the hardest and scariest moments of our lives. We will never forget the compassionate and thoughtful care she provided us!
