The DAISY Team Award is being presented to the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Women’s Care Unit Nursing team. This team has a legacy of nurses, patient care techs, and unit secretaries that spans decades. Several of the nurses and team members have dedicated their careers to this specialty and have worked 10, 20, 30, or 40+ years on this unit! The patient who submitted the DAISY Award nominations highlighted the team's commitment to providing excellence in patient care.

There were several DAISY Award nominations from one patient and family who delivered at the Marshall Birthing Center. This patient expressed her gratitude and appreciation by describing details about her transitions in care on the unit. She was thrilled about having consistent nurses during her stay. She raved about Linda Holderle and described her as “spectacular.” She also shared how Kari Di Santo and Stacey Reppi “made a lasting impression on this new mom by advocating and creating a judgment-free zone.” Jessica Luther “showed love, compassion, and respect for being a nurse, and the support she provided was greatly appreciated.” The patient continues by saying, “Stacey Reppi, the RN I have had for the majority of my stay here, has been absolutely amazing. Not only has she helped me with every need possible, but she’s helped us learn more about feeding our baby, and she’s even been spit on. The staff here are very kind and considerate”. This team created a bond with the patient that was much needed while navigating parenthood. She was incredibly thankful for the care the team provided. She nominated multiple nurses who cared for her during her time at NWCH. This exemplifies the team culture that NWCH OB Unit has and practices everyday with the community they serve.

Congratulations on a well-deserved team recognition!
