This team is providing exceptional care for a 2-year-old patient in the newborn nursery.  Because of safety issues, he was given to Nursery to take care of him. The nursery team stepped in, displaying unwavering dedication and compassion. This child had been in the nursery since he was 6 months old. Over time, the Nursery Team and this child formed a bond and treated him as if he were their own young brother. Their commitment, teamwork, and collaboration in building a strong relationship with the child were evident in every interaction every time I visited the area. They worked together to meet the child's physical, emotional, and developmental needs. The team organized a birthday party for him for his 1st and 2nd year birthdays. Our team buys and shares their food with them, giving and naming him "E."

Once this baby leaves the Newborn Nursery Unit, he will leave the area physically, but for sure, he will be in the heart of our Nursery Team FOREVER. In the absence of E's parents, I believe this team's presence is a source of comfort and a FAMILY to be called. This team exemplified the true essence of compassionate care as they embraced the child as their own family member.
