Niamh Fitzgerald, Registered General Nurse

My sister M is a longtime patient of St James’s Hospital, having started off as a patient in Hospital 2. She has been through all parts- moving from Hospital 4 to Hollybrook Lodge. She has met numerous staff members over the years who have been excellent to her.

However, Niamh goes the extra mile, whether communicating with M herself or with me. Niamh always looks out for things that are of interest to M- like letting her know if there is a movie on TV that she knows she would like. Niamh also advised on items of personal care that would be of benefit to M on a regular basis; Niamh changed her diet to suit her condition- this is something that we are extremely grateful for- knowing that M is well looked after at mealtimes on days that her family isn’t there.

Niamh really has the patient’s best interests at heart- making sure M is settled in bed before she would go on her own lunch break as she knows M can find the day very long. Niamh is certainly a credit to the Nursing profession. She is patient-focused at all costs- telling things exactly as they are. All staff at Hollybrook Lodge are excellent to M.
