Niamh was my grandfather's nurse for much of his stay in the CVICU. Never have I seen such compassionate care. She made us both feel as though he could pull through anything even when he was wishing death upon himself after open heart surgery. To me, she is the epitome of excellence in health care and nursing. In his most exposed state, she made him feel dignified. She didn't simply bail or run out of the room when speech therapists or other specialists stopped by, instead she stayed and helped with walks, feedings, etc. It was sad when her shift was over because she made so much progress with him. I feared he would regress. My grandfather is alive today because of the care he received from Niamh. I whole heartedly believe this.
