January 2025 Honoree
Nicholas Faul, BSN, RN
Nick took care of my grandmother, who was a very sick woman. She had sepsis, multiple organ failure, and her lactate acid was over 20. Nick never sugar-coated anything from the start. He explained everything as it was happening, and laid all options out as well, giving our family plenty of time to make our decisions. He was very professional and understanding and made sure that we understood everything that was happening. He showed a great deal of empathy and compassion and was very respectful to our entire family the whole time we were there. When test results came back with bad news, Nick had palliative care come immediately, and they brought us to a consultation room, and discussed our next steps based on the new test results. They asked questions about my grandmother respectfully, and it felt really heartwarming at that time. It’s hard to explain, but almost like they were part of our family, comforting us. They both helped make our decision so much easier! In my opinion, Nick met all of the following: great, above the top patient and family care, professional excellence & accountability, honored beliefs, was very compassionate and respectful, and overall was an extraordinary nurse and human being and went above and beyond, treating us as if we were his family in the that hospital room! Great job!
Thank you, Nicholas, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
