For the last several years, our family has taken care of our neighbor so she wouldn't have to go into a home. She is a great neighbor and part of our family. She is afraid of dying alone and in a lot of pain. Today, in our busy world, it's easy to be in a hurry and provide the minimal. I was so impressed by the care of the Kaiser staff, especially Nicolas Mar. He took the time to listen to her and not dismiss what she was saying, even as she repeated it. He added a personal touch, comforting her and offering solutions. He took the time to listen to me and then reached out to the provider of the charge RN. Nicholas made several adjustments to her bed to make her comfortable. He broke up her meds and fed them to her since she was having a difficult time swallowing. We were there for two hours, and he was consistent in checking and providing comfort. When his shift was over, he brought in a new nurse to do a handoff. Thank you, Nicholas. You can provide care, but you went far and beyond with your compassion to take care of our neighbor/family member. We are humbly grateful.
