September 2021 Honoree
Nicholas Oakley, RN
Nick Oakley went down to a trauma page due to drowning. He met a toddler near death and demonstrated exceptional nursing in providing care for this patient. For two days straight he sat in the patient's room providing care and being present with the family. On the fourth day, he came back one last time, 6 hours before his shift started, to see the patient off on the honor walk and organ procurement. He exemplified the commitment, passion, and empathy for the nursing profession that can often be lost in the monotony of the objective-driven shifts.
Thank you, Nicholas, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
