Nichole was patient at explaining things to my husband and me. We could tell she genuinely cared about her patients and wanted the best outcome possible.
Our son was airlifted to Mayo Hospital in Phoenix Arizona from Lake Havasu City AZ (3 1/2 hr drive by car) and was admitted to ICU in critical condition. All his systems had shut down due to Covid. He was on a ventilator and was on what seemed like a million medications to try to get him better. Nicole became his nurse a couple of days in and was an amazing breath of fresh air. Nichole was patient at explaining things to my husband and me. We could tell she genuinely cared about her patients and wanted the best outcome possible. She cared for our son sang songs to him spending time in the room just being with him when we were unable to be there. She fought for our rights to visit (which was an enormous task) and won so that his dad and I could also spend time with him.
Each procedure that was done Nichole thoroughly explained to me after the Dr's had talked to me and told me the purpose of it and why they would do it. She explained the steps of what had to happen to move him forward and what to expect. This is HUGE since no one expects to have to go through this nor knows what to expect. You read about Covid but no one really knows about it until they go through it.
Nicole was able to share what she has seen in the ICU as to the progression and treatment that is normally done. Needless to say, we were very comforted by her caring attitude and the care she gave our son. Nicole picked up extra days on her days off to make sure that our son had consistent care and didn't feel alone. Nicole went above and beyond her duty to care for him. That is something that as a family we will be eternally grateful for.
