Niki is an exceptional nurse on level nine who goes above and beyond in all that she does. She is one of our most involved nurses both on the unit and hospital-wide. Niki is the co-chair of the CAP board and is also a CN IV, educator, charge, and many other roles. Here are what her peers in the Team Member Support Council had to say about her.

"Niki is one of the most dedicated and hardest-working nurses I know. She cares so deeply for her patients and team members and will always advocate for their wellbeing. She is a mentor to many on the floor as a senior nurse with her clinical expertise, as well as her kindness, compassion, and leadership. She has dedicated so much of herself to our unit to help grow our staff members into the best professional versions of themselves. I am continuously in awe of her heart and compassion for our unit. Niki is a CAP board member who will encourage and assist any nurse who needs mentoring to level up, as well as prepare them for the certification(s) required. She is also a leader and member of Level 9's Professional Development and Education Council, continuously finding new ways to foster humble expertise on the unit. Additionally, Niki is a leader on Level 9 as a Relief Charge RN and often functioning as a Resource RN. She will take on any difficult patient, family, or team member situation to ensure unit and patient safety. Niki does all of this without hesitation and a positive attitude. Many nurses, myself included, look up to and turn to Niki always."

"Niki is always very caring and compassionate as a bedside nurse. She is also a strong leader as charge nurse, previously as the CF liaison, she is on many councils to share her opinions on how to make the unit better and to care for our staff better. She recently put together the education task force to improve our knowledge as a unit and fill in knowledge gaps. She has also done so much work with the leveling mentor program to help our staff get the recognition they deserve for everything they are involved in. She is never in a bad mood and always willing to educate or help another person. Niki goes above and beyond for all of our ninth-floor team members every chance she gets. Through all of Niki’s roles she models interpersonal skills and collaborates with many healthcare team members. Niki is selfless with her time, compassion, and caring attitude all the time with anyone she interacts with."

"Niki is always an experienced and kind person to work with. I can think of countless scenarios where she has assisted me with drawing blood, a second opinion on a kid, or made sure I understood a particular procedure based on the policies. She never complains with answering a million questions and has been such a pillar of our unit for many years. Level 9 would not be the same without her.

Niki is such a hard worker! She does so much for CHC and our unit. I am continuously impressed by all that she does. She spearheaded the education taskforce committee and has been vital in the leveling discussion with RNs on our unit."

"Niki is the perfect example of one who delivers exceptional family and patient-centered care. During one of my shifts, I had a patient who was decompensating rapidly, and the provider was called to the bedside. I was a few months off of orientation and was intimidated to advocate for my patients to the providers, especially if our care plan interventions varied. I was able to learn firsthand from Niki how to speak up and advocate for optimal care with respect and kindness despite the differences in opinion. She took into account the parents' concerns and made sure they felt heard and valued. In addition, Niki is a humble and hard-working nurse who constantly strives to encourage and maintain educating our staff on policies that provide our patients with optimal care."
