Nichole Reynolds, BSN, RN, CPAN

A 73-year-old female underwent her second procedure in 8 hours due to a postoperative bleed. That day the patient was expertly resuscitated by her recovery room team and following the re-exploration, Nichole was faced with a critical care bed shortage. As was typical of this pandemic, the entire DCH hospital system was suffering from a regular and critical care bed shortage. Medical care professionals were also in short supply due to a COVID Omicron variant outbreak. Nichole, who recognized this massive shortfall and the potential for a tragic patient outcome, put together a team of nurses who would move the patient to the ICU where they would provide the necessary critical care. Nichole and her team spent that entire night and much of the next day filling in for the missing ICU staff providing exceptional care ultimately resulting in a remarkable patient turnaround. Nichole's leadership and her and her team's selflessness are absolutely DAISY worthy.
