Early on Monday morning, I came to the ER only to find out that I needed emergency surgery to have my gall bladder removed. It ended up needing to be an open surgery and thus my carefully planned week with appointments, errands and children's birthday parties quickly turned into a week of sitting, sleeping and pain in a hospital bed. These last few days I have seen wonderful nurses, techs and others dutifully serving. One person however, stood out in my mind and went above and beyond to ensure a quick, safe and comfortable recovery for me.

I met Nick at 7pm my first night here. He was friendly and quick to smile. He seemed to anticipate my needs before I realized what I needed. He was careful to explain everything very clearly and was thorough in all routines. Everything he did was with an "it's my pleasure" attitude. I never felt like a burden but rather Nick genuinely seemed to care about me as a human rather than another number.

He has been patient with me and immediately responsive to anything I've needed. On more than one occasion, he said "I am here to serve you". He expressed enthusiasm and love for his job. As well as having exemplary attitude, he was also very professional and confident in his craft. That made me confident in his abilities to take care of me and ensure my safe and quick recovery. He has gotten to know me as a person and has asked about my life and family. This also helped me feel genuinely cared about.

If all people worked with the enthusiasm, professionalism and genuine caring as Nick does, this world would be a better place. In the meantime, I believe Memorial Hospital is a better facility because of Nick and I feel honored that he was assigned to me. Thank you for such a stellar employee!
