Nick is always an excellent nurse to work with. He is always there when you have a question that needs answering, helps you get any resources you need to have a successful shift, and always follows up on any questions or issues you have brought forward.
Tonight, Nick was in charge of orienting a new nurse to the charge position. While orienting, he continued to be a strong presence on the floor, helping set up patient rooms, answering lights and phones, and when the floor was being hit with new admits, Nick took a patient himself, when the patient ended up transferring to our floor from PACU instead of the original destination of ICU. She needed a higher level of care, but Nick took on the patient and still made himself available for a resource for his orienting charge, as well as the floor when he wasn't giving patient care.
Each night Nick steps into the floor, he brings a positive attitude and pushes to have the best night possible, even when the odds are stacked against him. He is always advocating for the staff, greets difficult patients with a smile, and always approaches problems with a calm and collected attitude. He is a role model to many on this floor, and I always look forward to working with him.
I know that any patients who have Nick as a nurse are receiving stellar care, and I would feel relief if I knew he was taking care of myself or my family.
