I’m thrilled to nominate Nurse Nicki Pantuso for the DAISY Award for the amazing care she provided to my dad during his 14-day stay at the hospital. Nicki’s kindness, dedication, and incredible nursing skills truly made a difference for us. From day one, Nicki was a bright light in a tough situation. Her friendly smile and comforting words put my dad at ease right away. She always made sure he was comfortable and took the time to get to know him personally, which meant the world to him and us. Nicki’s attention to detail was fantastic. She was on top of everything, from managing my dad’s medications to making sure he understood his treatments. She explained things in a way that was easy for us to understand, which helped reduce a lot of our stress and confusion. What really stood out was Nicki’s personal touch. She took her time to listen to my dad, understanding his expressive aphasia. She adjusted his pillows just right and spent time chatting with him to keep his spirits up. She made him feel cared for, not just as a patient but as a person. She was always ready to answer our questions, which were a lot as I am a nurse, and she continuously kept us updated on my dad’s progress. Her empathy and patience helped us through some really tough moments. Nicki is an incredible nurse who goes above and beyond for her patients and their families. We’re so grateful for the outstanding care she gave my dad.
