As a patient who is 83-years-old and weighs 240 pounds, I am not an easy patient to take care of. Plus, I have a lot of time to observe.
Ms. Cornwall is my idea of the best of nursing available. Her skills and knowledge are "top shelf"! She is considerate of others and impresses them to do their best. Ms. Cornwall is not shy when she meets a challenge. She meets it head-on with solutions that improve the health and safety of both patients and staff.
During a counseling meeting, she mentioned the difficulty the staff had helping me to bed in the evening. It can require 4-5 staff, each with a different opinion. Ms. Cornwall and the OT/PT staff spent more than 45 minutes developing a safe, workable method of transferring me from a wheelchair to the bed. Then she posted a step-by-step list at the head of the bed for all to see. My 240 pounds now only requires 1 ½ people to make the transfer. Thank you! She also stops by to say hello when she reports on duty. It's a nice, comforting feeling.
