I am writing to inform you of the excellent experience we had interacting with your ER nurse Nicola. My mother was brought to Suburban Community Hospital after having stopped breathing from a cardiac event. My life partner and I followed her to the ER. It was mom's wish to be a DNR and fade into the sunset peacefully after 94 years. While it was her wish, it was not an easy directive to follow. Nicola helped in every way. She helped to make us feel welcome. She helped to comfort my mother. She made sure we were supported throughout the day. She was a true blessing for all of us. I know it was not an easy day for her either. No one wants to lose a patient. She helped give me the courage to be a comfort to my mother. She helped my mother be at peace with her choice. There are so many little things that made a huge difference all throughout the day. I spent 40 years in the army. I would call Nicola’s actions above and beyond and she would be cited for a meritorious service medal. I hope there is such an award at Suburban and you please consider her for it.
