Nicole was instrumental in making the patient feel comfortable. The patient's health was declining, and a rapid response was called. The patient was anxious. She was also worried about her husband, who was at her bedside. Nicole not only explained to the patient what to expect, but she also turned to the husband and explained the situation to him in a way he would understand. The patient explained that her husband does not understand all of this medical "stuff". Nicole was described by the patient as being very caring and supportive. She stayed by her side for hours. She held her hand and would not let go. The patient was sent to CCU. Nicole finished her shift, and she went to CCU to follow up. She took her time to speak with the patient again and told her and her husband that everything was going to be "OK". The patient stated that everyone who cared for her was wonderful, but there was something about Nicole; she was very special to her and her family.
