Nicole is the amazing nurse who supported me during my labor and post-partum stay. She displayed compassionate care and exemplary service that went above and beyond. My husband was also amazed by the excellent service that she provided. She anticipated what I needed and provide reassurance and coaching without being asked.
My husband had to drive back and forth during my induction to milk cows and he was exhausted and Nicole got him set up on the couch so he could nap and didn't question at all or make him feel bad that he wasn't constantly at my side. She read my non-verbal cues and offered things to try and make me more comfortable without having to ask. She also followed me to the recovery room so that I didn't have to switch nurses until her shift was up and then followed me the next night.
I was just exhausted and she offered to take the baby for a couple hours to the nursery so I could rest and I was able to get much needed sleep so I could function since the previous night I got little to no sleep. I can't even begin to tell you how much that was needed and how grateful I was to have those few hours of sleep. I was so afraid to ask to have that help, because I thought I would be judged but she never judged and just reassured me that it was ok.
