I commend Nicole's work and extra effort with a tender heart. Her attitude, marked by a sense of urgency for care, was focused on helping patients.
I am a subdural hematoma patient hospitalized at your hospital for a procedure for 4 nights. After the procedure, I could not sleep due to a terrible sore throat. I asked the nurses and staff members for help with any medications and other necessary items. They all said they would look into it, but in the end, they didn't do anything and provided no help. I even asked for a cup of hot water with honey and/or lemon. After a while, I called again for help. This time, Nicole Bengyel, RN, came into my room. I explained the problem and asked for help. She listened to me, thought for a while, searching for an answer. Then she said, "I will bring a cup of hot chicken broth and a Cepacol for you. It will be better than hot water with lemon or honey." She rushed and brought a cup of hot chicken broth and a Cepacol. I drank the chicken broth. I could immediately feel that it helped me. It reduced the pain and coughing. It made me feel much more comfortable.
I commend Nicole's work and extra effort with a tender heart. Her attitude, marked by a sense of urgency for care, was focused on helping patients. Nicole gave it some thought and looked for a solution or option. Nicole made me happy. The pain was reduced and made me much more comfortable. Not everyone can do such things. Such a small effort carries an extra mile. So, I really want to thank her. I want her work to be recognized. I am nominating Nicole Bengyel, RN, for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
