Nicole Cabrera, in Labor and Delivery, was outstanding. I’m the most squeamish person in the world. I’m terrible. I don’t like blood, not because of the pain or anything, but like the actual concept. I don’t like hospitals, I’m a wreck and a mess.

From the moment that Nicole came in, she put me at ease, and she validated how I felt so I didn’t feel crazy. She had great bedside manners, she was funny! Not to mention she passed on my feelings of how much I love Taylor Swift to the rest of the team who all talked about it with me, and that made me feel at home!

Nicole also shared how special it is for her to be a part of these deliveries, and how she hoped to be able to be there as it was the night shift and they started induction, and Nicole wouldn’t be back until the next night shift, and she was hoping to be there for the delivery.

It was also clear to me that Nicole had an excellent rapport with the Residents, got my questions answered really fast, and helped with the Get-Well Network. Overall, she took her job seriously and made us feel like we were all a part of the same family.

The following evening, when she was back and my labor had progressed, there was a scary moment where my son’s heartbeat plummeted, and Nicole immediately got reinforcements and kept me calm.

I never once freaked out about my safety or my baby’s safety, which is saying a lot because I’m a nervous wreck as a human.

They got the baby’s heart rate up and we moved forward with a vaginal delivery. I felt like Nicole was my coach through pushing, and with the incredible playlist that my husband and I made, Nicole’s great attitude, and the Resident and Physician's Positive attitudes, pushing was a really great experience. They all totally got me and my sense of humor, they were just the best!

She weathered the storm of an anxious wreck of a squeamish woman who had some difficult and scary moments, and amid all of that, I would still say that my delivery didn’t suck!
