Nicole was so devoted to A’s care and was proactive about getting extra physician attention for his needs in the evening hours. Other signs of care that I saw: She took care to comb out his long hair (which had become tangled) and put it in a braid. She shared the times that A voluntarily spoke to her. She created a special recognition moment for me with A to gently rouse him on one of my visits. In answer to her question about whether he knew who was there, he spoke my full name. This is a precious last memory for me. I felt Nicole’s dedication to A so much that I wanted to offer her condolences after we lost him.
