Last Sunday Nicole took over a patient assignment at 2300, this assignment had a critical patient who was dying. Nicole approached this situation with compassion, respect and caring. She not only comforted the patient but the brother and sister-in-law as well. Nicole contacted the Red Cross as the patient's son was in the Marine Corps stationed in New Orleans, LA and through her efforts he was able to get an earlier flight to Raleigh. Her focus was to provide quality, compassionate care, not only for the patient but the family as well.
Sadly this patient passed away. As the family was leaving they both gave Nicole a hug and thanked her for the caring and compassion she showed to them and their loved one. I believe Nicole was a major comfort to this family during their time of need and highly recommend her for this award.
