Nicole was working when my son was admitted. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable after being in the ER all night. The next night we had her again. She is a sweetheart and seems to love working with children. She was always there with a smile. My son was a 'cranky pants' and she always tried to make him smile. I guess you could say she made the first couple nights of our hospital stay better. You definitely have a great nurse when you have her as your nurse.

My son contracted bacterial meningitis in January. When I met Nicole I was very exhausted mentally and physically. I hadn't been to sleep for three days. People kept coming into the room trying to encourage me to put my baby down in the crib but I refused. They said "I will watch him" and I would say "no". Finally, Nicole asked me what I was afraid of. I stated to her that he might have a seizure and I won't know. She sat in my room and held him while I slept. It was only 2 hours but I needed it. Couldn't thank her enough. She really looked after him like he was hers.

My son stayed at CHKD in May. During his stay, Nurse Nicole provided outstanding care. My son has a complex medical history and is non-verbal. Nurse Nicole displayed compassion and love towards my son while she emptied his ileostomy bag and changed his diaper. Nurse Nicole diligently and graciously responded to the numerous nurse call bells with a smile. She assisted me with bathing my son with a 'can do' attitude. Most importantly, she always asked "is there anything else I can do for you?" each time before she departed the room. I know the actions she performed seem like typical nurse tasks, however, the manner in which she performed them allowed my husband and I to establish a bond of trust. If my 'difficult' husband is satisfied, then I know in my heart Nurse Nicole delivered outstanding service to my son. My husband, son and I are so blessed to have had Nurse Nicole as our nurse.
