December 2023 Honoree
Nicole Fellella, RN
My mother was 6 days on the unit following a stroke. We experienced a Physician change. The new Neurologist did not meet with us to explain the drastic care plan change. Nicole did her best to send messages and give us as much information as she could for us to feel comfortable.
The next day, she helped us facilitate a meeting with the attending so we could understand the changes and the current plan. She also eased my mom’s anxiety and took great care of her. She exceeded our expectations above and beyond!!
***
Nicole has been an RN on NCCU for 7 years. In my 23 years at RIH I don’t think I have worked with a kinder nurse. Nicole goes out of her way for patients, families and her co-workers. She is a strong advocate and excellent at communicating.
Whenever we have new staff or a float nurse on the unit, Nicole makes them feel at home. Everyone Nicole cares for or works alongside feels safe and cared for.
