She pours her heart and soul into each of these roles and goes the extra mile for her peers through her strong leadership skills.
Nicole has demonstrated Children's Hospital Colorado's mission and core values throughout her career. She is everything that it means to be a DAISY Award-winning nurse and more. She models excellent interpersonal skills as our unit’s Team Member Support Council Co-Chair, delivers exceptional family-centered care as one of our charge liaison nurses, collaborates with team members as our scheduling lead, and has a positive attitude in all that she does. Nicole cares so deeply for our unit and everyone on it, whether it is a patient, a family member, a colleague, or a leader. Nicole has spent the last six and a half years truly making her mark on level nine. She has been a dedicated member of this unit since her new grad year back in 2018. Nicole quickly jumped into action, getting involved in several committees and opportunities in our unit. She is an amazing co-chair of our Team Member Support Council, our unit representative at Acute Care Practice Council, an active member of our Professional Governance Council, the unit’s Scheduling lead, a dedicated CNIV nurse, and a strong member of our Charge Liaison team. She pours her heart and soul into each of these roles and goes the extra mile for her peers through her strong leadership skills. As the scheduling lead, she is a cornerstone in creating, balancing, and editing the schedule for employees on level 9.
Along with her involvement, Nicole identified an opportunity to recognize the value of employees within the unit by creating “senior options” that highlight seniority and support retention. In 2022-2023, when our unit experienced turnover in the ACM position, Nicole stepped up as an Interim ACM to help lead our unit when we needed her most. Through this experience, she identified just how organized, compassionate, and knowledgeable she is for our patient population and team. Nicole is the person you get excited to see on the staffing sheet for the shift. As you know, the unit can handle anything when she is there. She is a fierce advocate for our patients and their needs; she has a wealth of knowledge of all policies and procedures; and she always brings a positive attitude to any situation. Her calm demeanor is vital in emergency situations and plays a crucial role in the room's overall tone. Nicole truly leads with her heart and gives all that she can for her team members and the unit. There is no one more deserving of the DAISY Award, and we are so grateful to have
