After two visits to the Emergency Room, my husband was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of Diverticulitis with complications and was operated on two days later. Because of a perforated bowel, the surgeon had to remove an 8 inch section of his colon and perform a colostomy. My husband was very sick and our semi-private room was very loud and uncomfortable. Sensing our frustration, the nursing staff was able to move us to a private room where he spent the next two weeks while he recuperated.

At first, neither of us knew anything about the procedure. And we had a thousand questions. Although the surgeon answered most of them, we still had many more. This is when we met Nicole. She answered all of our remaining questions patiently and concisely. In fact, she indicated that no questions were insignificant! Her clinical knowledge, as well as her nursing skills were exceptional. She was very understanding and considerate to both of us. She, as well as her Nursing Assistant, couldn’t have been any nicer and provided blankets, ice water, coffee, and anything they thought would make us feel better. Nicole was always concerned about how we were doing. Because my husband was in a great deal of pain and his blood pressure was extremely high, she became our liaison and advocate in dealing with the hospitalist in getting both under control. Her expertise, understanding, and extraordinary compassion got us through a very difficult time. Although all of the nurses at Beebe were very good, Nicole is an outstanding nurse, showing great compassionate nursing care.
