Nicole was our advocate. She helped make sure our questions were answered, and our wants and needs were met.
I was first introduced to Nicole when I was 28 weeks pregnant. My daughter was diagnosed with a genetic disorder and was in heart failure. Our care was referred to the Chicago Institute for Fetal Health, and we were assigned to work with Nicole to help guide us during the process. From the first time I spoke to Nicole on the phone, I knew that we were in good hands. Nicole was our advocate. She helped make sure our questions were answered, and our wants and needs were met. She took the time to check in on us both in person at our appointments and via weekly phone calls and did a wonderful job making sure we felt supported. There were phone calls that started as planning appointments and ended with talks about our dogs, what leggings we preferred, and the shows we watched. She had the busiest schedule yet always took the extra few minutes to connect and make me feel so supported. When I was 33 weeks pregnant, it was determined that I needed to deliver my daughter. Nicole walked us over to Prentice and gave the biggest and warmest hug. She sent me a text message checking in a few days later. Unfortunately, my daughter died a few days later. Nicole came to her service and helped us celebrate our beautiful girl. I felt like it was such a blessing to have Nicole as a part of my team. She is a phenomenal nurse and an amazing friend. Lurie Children's is the luckiest to have her on their staff.
