"The DAISY Foundation was established to say 'Thank You' to nurses.  The Foundation believes nurses are the unsung heroes of our society who deserve far more recognition and honor than they receive.  Many students talk about hearing an instructor's voice in the back of their minds even years after they have graduated.  These dedicated nursing faculty members often do not receive appropriate recognition for the effect they have on their students, patient care, and professionalism in nursing.  The DAISY Foundation established the DAISY Faculty Award to provide nursing schools a way to demonstrate appreciation to their nursing faculty for their commitment and inspirational influence on their students.

The Mississippi college fourth semester nursing school class has selected a recipient that we feel embodies this award to it's fullest.  This recipient has gone above and beyond as a nursing instructor, investing in the lives of each student.  The instructor knows when to lead and guide and when to stand beside us during the peaks and troughs of our lives.  The recipient always has the drive, determination, and dedication to ensure our class succeeds at everything we set our minds to.  Even on the poop-filled days, she finds the joy to smile through the stink.  Sometimes her face matches her hair color when she gets as anxious as we do.  And without further ado, the fourth semester nursing school class is honored to present the DAISY Faculty Award to Mrs. Nicole Jager."
