I came into Mercy Gilbert Medical Center Emergency Room with severe abdominal pain and vomiting. After testing I was diagnosed with a bowl obstruction and needed surgery. That was the beginning of my recovery and my experience with the staff. I had a few complications and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. I have to say first, that I have had a number of hospital stays in different hospitals and none compare to the unbelievable care and kindness from everyone; Nurses, Doctors, CNA'S, Tech's, Department Head, transport and housekeepers. My surgeon Dr. H was the most wonderful understanding, kind, and caring Doctor I've ever had. He was so great at listening to me, the patient, and finding what was causing my complications.
I'd like to have it known that every nurse and tech that took care of me was excellent, and deserves recognition for all their hard work, and everything that I have written.
I had one Nurse that took care of me a good portion of my stay, Nicole. She had such a way of making me feel she loves her job and really cares about helping her patients, not just doing her job but caring about doing it great! She would start my day off with her beautiful smile, positive encouraging words while holding my hand, saying we are going to have a good day. If during that day I started to have a problem she was always encouraging, kind and understanding and took the time to lift my spirits.
The other thing about Nicole is that if she didn't have me as her patient, she would visit me to see how I was doing. That was so very special to me! Thank you, Nicole! I have to say that Mercy Gilbert Medical Center's Mission Hello Human Kindness is definitely working!
